"Susana Muñoz Hernández" is PhD in Computer Science by the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Master in Management of Information Technologies by the Ramón Llull University of Barcelona and graduate in International Affairs by the Society of International Studies of Madrid. She won the first prize in a national competition for talented young people organized by the University of La Salle of Madrid in 2003. She has been working as associate professor at the Computer Science School of the Technical University of Madrid since 1998. She develops her research activity in the BABEL group (http://babel.ls.fi.upm.es). She is part of the committees of several international conferences in her area. She set up the cooperation group TEDECO (TEcnology for the DEvelopment and the Cooperation, http://tedeco.fi.upm.es) in 2006 and she has been its director since then. She has directed various projects oriented to improve education in developing countries in central Africa (specifically collaborating with the University of Ngozi, Burundi and the Ethiopian Catholic University). She is director of the educational innovation group TIDE (Technology Innovation for the Educational Development, http://tide.fi.upm.es). She has just received the 2010 UPM prize of cooperation for the development in international research. |

Olubankole Olubamise" born July 14th 1969, Kafanchan, Nigeria, holds BLS (Hons) Maid 1991, MSc Lagos 1992, MA/PGD University of Central England now BCU(1996), Ph.D (in view) University of Abuja, 2011. He has contributed immensely to the growth of the ICT Sector in Nigeria. He is author/co-author of 7 Books and numerous contributions to publications on ICT, Human Rights, Foreign Trade Policy, Democracy and Development. He led Nigeria’s Civil Society Delegation to the 2005 World Summit on Information Society (WSIS). He facilitated and produced an ICT television programme “i-Society” for two years on national television. He is a National Resource person on ICT for Human Resource Development. He is member of the National ICT4D Strategy Development and Implementation Committee and a member of the National Software Policy Development Committee. |

"Reinhard Schäler" has been involved in the localisation industry in a variety of roles since 1987. He is the founder and founding editor of a number of specialized Journals, industry groups and the Localisation Research Centre at the University of Limerick, Ireland. He is principal investigator of the Irish Government co-funded Centre for Next Generation Localisation (CNGL), a collaborative project involving four universities and ten industrial partners. In 2009, he established The Rosetta Foundation and the Dynamic Coalition for a Global Localization Platform: Localization4all under the umbrella of the UN’s Internet Governance Forum. His aim and that of The Rosetta Foundation is to build the Social Translation and Localisation Network. |

"Asteway S. Negash" I was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I went to the Addis Ababa University at the age of 18 to study Information Systems and graduated in 2006. I started my carrier as a programmer in a software development company based in Addis Ababa. And then I moved to Adama University to work as a system developer and lecturer and stayed for two years. I am now working in Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT) as Application developer and Open source trainer. I have so far involved in several system development and customization projects one of which is the open source single sign-on authentication and authorization system which is now active in Adama University. I like to build up my career in Open source development, integration, customization, localization and I look forward to networking and collaboration in the same area. |

Sunday Matthew Abatan was born near Ikorodu in Nigeria. He grew up in an Abatan Olasunkanmi compound in Okegbegun Lasunwon Ikorodu. He attended the Farm settlement community primary school in Ikorodu, although his father was a farmer and civil servant in Lagos State Hospital management board, and then attended the Odogunyan grammar school. When he was twenty-one, he left Ikorodu for Ede to attend the Federal Polytechnic there. Following his graduation as Statistician, he work as a Technologist in Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State Nigeria. Upon his return from NYSC he work as Administrative Officer of Adolal Construction Company in Port Harcourt, Dunlop Nigeria Plc in Ikeja Lagos and Marketing Executive in a financial company with archive of achievements. Sunny Bright as mostly called by most of his acquaintances presently work as a Technologist at The Federal University Oye Ekiti, where he has contributed immensely to the progressive workforce of the institution in developing the staff database and all matters relating to compilation of new staff qualification profile. Dr Derek Keats is a long time advocate of FOSS, and is one of the founders of FOSSFA and Idlelo, and was the host of the first Idlelo conference in Cape Town. After 10 years in senior management positions in two universities, he embarked on a career in business. He was a professor of biology for 12 years, and then was Executive Director for IT at the University of the Western Cape, following which he spent 3 years as Deputy Vice Chancellor at Wits University in Johannesburg. He was active in establishing the Cape IT Initiative in Cape Town, including the Bandwidth Barn incubator. He founded the International Ocean Institute - Southern Africa, and the Centre for Internet Computing at the University of the Western Cape. The also established the African Virtual Open Initiatives and resources programme, a collaboration of 16 universities at its peak, and which produced the Chisimba software application, the only fully made in Africa open source software application until quite recently. He is currently the owner of dKeats Innovation, focusing on IT Strategy, strategic and scenario planning, Innovation with Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), and FOSS ecosystem development in organisations. He is also founder and co-owner of Kenga, the company which is bringing commercial support to Chisimba, and taking this African software into the commercial world. LPIC, Novel CLA Brian Sikute is a Novell Certified Linux Administrator (Novell CLA), Data Center Technical Specialist, Systems and Network Developer, Application Developer, Database Administrator, Programmer and Trainer at ict@innovation. He is a Systems Engineer and Trainer based in Lusaka, Zambia and works with the Commonwealth Youth Programme Regional Centre for Africa (CYP RCA), Commonwealth Secretariat as Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Coordinator. He has since worked AfriConnect Zambia – a Vodacom Company and leading Internet Service Provider where his job included Client/User Support, and Network and Systems Engineering and Administration among others. Brian has developed and implemented a reliable ICT infrastructure at CYP RCA providing User Support, Training, System and Database Administration, Network Engineering and Application Development. These duties combine with his special skills and training in Computer Science, CISCO and Linux. Ikusan Charles Abimbola was born on 4th June, 1980. He is from Ondo State is a B.Eng. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering by Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria. I made a project on Electronic Smoke detector. I had training after school with Computer Concepts on Network Maintenance and left for a training in Global World Communication, and NIIT for Cisco and Networking. I did my National Youth Service Corps in Lagos and had my primary assignment in Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria and which I was retained till date. I had training with AFNOG, where I was taught how to handle Network Monitoring and configure. These tools are being implemented at the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria. |

Katim S. Touray is an international development consultant based in The Gambia. He has conducted consultancies on ICTs, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), project management, HIV/AIDS, strategic planning, and other subjects for government and UN agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations in Africa. Examples of assignments he has conducted include the preparation, for the African Union Commission, of a background paper on ICT capacity building and research and development (R&D) in Africa, and an impact assessment of the UNDP Internet Initiative for Africa (IIA) project in The Gambia. He helped prepare a full-blown project document for the Gambia’s e-government project to implement the National Information and Communications Infrastructure (NICI) plan.
Dr. Touray earned his Ph.D. in Soil Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he started using the Internet in the early 1990's. He has also been an advocate for leveraging ICTs, especially the Internet, for development. For three years (Oct. 2008 – Oct. 2011), he served on the board of Directors of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), and successfully advocated for a stronger relationship between ICANN and developing countries. Dr. Touray is also a free and open source software enthusiast, and has been a member of the Council of the Free Software and Open Source Foundation for Africa (FOSSFA) since 2008, and the Council’s Vice Chair since 2010. He actively participated in many global and African regional Internet Governance Forums as a workshop organizer and panelist. |

He is a leading Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) advocate not only in Kenya but also in Africa. With over 15 years experience in business development, IT Security and Systems Engineering in Kenya, Evans leads a team eight people who work or consult for LANet Consulting. He has experience in business development and mangement, operations management, IT governance and risk management consulting, system administration, web applications development, networking, user support, training, sales, marketing, key account management and project management. Evans is also the Chairman of the Linux Professional Association of Kenya, and is the liaison person for FOSSFA in East Africa. He is a member of the Kenya Bureau of Standards technical committee on IT Security Techniques (ISO/IEC Working Group 1, Sub Committee 27). He Serves on the board of Directors of Camara Educational Foundation – Kenya. Evans has been a project manager in ict@innovation, a project of GIZ and FOSSFA, since April 2010.
